IAMI Project Kicks Off: Enhancing EU Security with Advanced Entity Resolution

The IAMI project has officially kicked off, ushering in a new chapter in the fight against crime and terrorism through advanced entity resolution technologies. This Horizon Europe-funded initiative (HORIZON-CL3-2023-FCT-01-04) brings together top-tier European partners to enhance intelligence capabilities with AI-powered solutions.

A Milestone Event in Prague

The official launch took place on February 4-5, 2025, in Prague, hosted by UTIA at the Faculty of Economics and Management, Czech University of Life Sciences. Representatives from law enforcement, academia, and industry gathered to set the stage for a collaborative effort in developing cutting-edge entity identification solutions.

About the IAMI Project

IAMI (Identity Attributes Matrix Initiative) aims to transform how security and intelligence agencies identify and track entities across multiple data sources. At its core, the project introduces the Identity-Attributes-Matrix (IAM)—a 3D construct that integrates biometric data, behavioral patterns, and analytical results. This innovative approach will:

  • Enable large-scale and simultaneous entity identification.
  • Improve accuracy in handling noisy or corrupted data.
  • Reduce false positives and detect fraudulent identities.
  • Enhance cooperation among EU agencies, including EUROPOL and INTERPOL.

The IAMI project is coordinated by Hochschule für den öffentlichen Dienst in Bayern (HfoeD, Germany) and brings together a diverse consortium of partners across the European Union and beyond. These partners include leading research institutions, law enforcement agencies, and industry experts working collaboratively to enhance security and intelligence capabilities.

Kickoff Meeting Highlights

Day 1: Laying the Groundwork

The first day featured an opening session led by the project coordinator and technical coordinator, followed by introductions from all participating partners. A deep dive into the project's vision and objectives provided a clear roadmap for its implementation. Discussions revolved around entity resolution challenges, project methodologies, and expected impact. Participants also explored the integration of AI-driven solutions into existing security frameworks. The day ended with a networking event, fostering stronger partnerships among stakeholders.

Day 2: Diving Into Work Packages

The second day focused on work package (WP) discussions, outlining technical and operational strategies:

  • WP1 & WP2: Research, project coordination, and data management.
  • WP3 & WP4: Development of entity resolution techniques and security applications.
  • WP5 & WP6: Impact assessment, dissemination, and policy integration.

A financial workshop provided partners with guidance on project funding and compliance, ensuring efficient resource management. The meeting concluded with a strategic session on the next steps, setting the foundation for the project's successful execution.

Next Steps and Future Outlook

With the project now in motion, IAMI partners will work closely to refine entity resolution methodologies and deploy them in real-world scenarios. The outcomes of this initiative will bolster EU security, providing advanced tools for law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Stay tuned for updates as the IAMI project progresses towards redefining security and intelligence operations in Europe.
