Conversion programme to acquire the digital skills needed by forward-looking careers

Challenge

In recent years, the EU has been faced with an acute shortage of skilled workers. Upskilling and reskilling programmes are thus of utmost importance for the EU to reach its economic goals and insert itself as a leader of digital transformation. CONVERT is an ERASMUS+ project that aims to create certified programmes that would be in pace with the biggest developments that we witness in the domain of IT. The project will act in the short-term training modules that encompass digital skills. Micro-credentials will thus allow the programme to be flexible and certified. Some of the main interests of the programme will be skills that are emerging in today’s labour market, these include data analytics, data visualisation, programming languages, AI, IoT, web development and design, cybersecurity and data privacy. The efforts of CONVERT are inscribed in the strategic efforts of reskilling of the EU, mainly illustrated in The European Year of Skills 2023.

Objectives

The project will start with the first phase of mapping the ICT skills that are in high demand within the labor market. Pinpoint the exact set of specialized skills required to master the ongoing digital transition. This work will be conducted within the framework of Work Package 3. Building upon the insights garnered from Phase I, the project will actively develop a comprehensive training program. The design of the project will enrich existing skill sets and create a system of micro-credentials, to recognize the acquired expertise in these specialized domains. The phase will be the fruit of a collaborative effort of Work Package 4 (WP4) and Work Package 5 (WP5). The final phase will encompass mainstreaming, dissemination, and exploitation, the goal of this is sharing findings and training programs broadly, thus ensuring that individuals, organizations, and industries at large can benefit from the insights and opportunities we've uncovered.

Our Role

Privanova’s role in this project will be overarching, as it will be involved in most WPs with special input made to the educational content as well as policy recommendations. In terms of leadership of tasks, Privanova will lead the task “Data Protection Compliance and Data Management Plan” which entails the establishment and maintaining of the project’s Data Management Plan. It will thus be a contact point for the mapping of data usages in the project.
